Timothea – Author of Gardeners’ World Magazine
Welcome to my gardening blog! I’m Timothea, and alongside my career as an economist, my passion for gardening and cherished family traditions guide me on this journey.
I hail from Melbourn, a tiny village near Cambridge. I was born in 1976 and have been captivated by nature since childhood, particularly the enchanting world of gardens. My family’s farming traditions span several decades, with my grandparents and parents managing large farming estates. Through their example, I learned to appreciate the love of the land and the value of diligent, persevering work.
After primary school, I attended Capel Manor College in London, where I gained in-depth knowledge of plants, soil cultivation, and sustainable agriculture. I subsequently earned my degree in Economics from the University of Cambridge. Even during my university years, I never lost touch with gardening, always finding time to work in our family garden and experiment with new techniques.
For me, gardening is a source of tranquillity and creativity. Every plant I sow and nurture is a small wonder that blossoms as the fruit of my hard work. Over the years, I have gathered countless experiences which I am delighted to share with you on this blog.
Family traditions play a significant role in my life. Following in the footsteps of my grandparents and parents, I’ve learned that time spent in the garden is not only valuable for the physical work but also provides spiritual rejuvenation. At our family lunches, we always serve home-grown vegetables and fruits that we cultivate and care for together.
Caring for the garden is not merely a physical activity for me—it is an expression of my love and respect for nature. Every plant is unique and special, thriving with the right care and attention. This philosophy underpins all my endeavours, and it is a perspective I hope to share with you.
If you have any questions or would like to share your own gardening experiences, please do not hesitate to get in touch via e‐mail or through my social media channels, where I’m also actively present.
